Augmented reality is used for educational purposes such as interactive learning.

What is wrong in today’s schools:

In most institutions (universities) are frustratingly outmoded in terms of teaching students. The process of listening to lectures, taking notes, reading facts from books and taking final exams are not effective anymore in this generation. Students are still bored by the ineffective and non-interactive way of teaching. True learning is experiential. Most people learn best by doing and not by listening to lectures or reading from books. Senses involved are (sound, sight, touch, emotions, etc) with this senses the learning experience is more powerful. That is why today’s best teachers are those teachers who take the effort to get their students involved in meaningful activities so that students learn more at multiple levels.

Interactive learning:

Best application for students to learn or study is by allowing them to interact with projected characters. If a person would like to experience this technology he/she should have a pair of see through glasses that host two tiny video cameras and a pair of earphones.. For example, a student can actually see, hear and speak to historical figures. This way students can remember the facts better. The technologies needed to carry out this include:

Ø Real-time vision recognition (3D mapping)

Ø Voice recognition

Ø Real-time overlay technology (built in the wearable glasses)

Ø Sound and voice rendering

Ø Human character rendering (covering body mechanics)

Ø Artificial intelligence technology for understanding user speech and creating meaningful dialog.

Ø Miniaturizing advances for wearable CPU's and sensory devices.

Ø Improvements of portable powers.


Augmented Reality: a massive global industry

Augmented reality is a wonderful technology that is waiting to be develop. The augmented reality industry will dominate today’s software and computing industries and become the most influential technology yet to be experience by people. With this technology, users can just simply prevail several different program modules and plug them into their augmented reality hardware system. Programs that are available would include:

· Educational programs

· Entertainment programs (augmented multiplayer gaming, ‘fly through’ movies)

· Mental health (virtual mental health consultant which can help us overcome challenging situations)

· Reference (virtual reference library)

· Human interfaces

· Personal environment enrichment (you could redecorate the environment for instance, in the office)

Lastly, I hope that readers could see the potential for this type of technology this day’s. With this technology also could help in uplifting humanity.
