Rank 1 to 6 Augmented Reality Mobile Apps

Last week, I’ve mentioned about AR technology in Mobiles. What I’m going to discuss today is the Top 6 AR Mobile Apps. According to the previous post, we’ve already known that all these applications require built-in cam, compass and GPS system. They unite factual data into the physical real world by the use of iPhone 3GS, 4 or Google Android Phones or some Nokia smart phones. The applications are as follows:

1.TweetARound
This app shows you the tweets nearby. It uses the camera and covers live video of  the environment around you with tweets. Go around and you can see the person who is tweeting and his/her distance. Awesome, huh??

2. Layar
Layer, the second app is merely available for Google Android phones. Developers are allowed to generate their own AR to the phone by summing layers on top of the live video. You can see Yelp, Wikipedia, Google Search, Twitter and more via the eyes of Layar.

3. Nearest Tube
Are you getting lost by finding a subway station? No worries. This iPhone app will assist you to find the nearest subway station. Don’t waste your time by asking directions.

4. TAT Augmented ID
Unlike the others, this app is not about location, but people. It uses the Flickr recognition system of Polar Rose (a different site from Flickr that uses Flickr’s API to empower users to import their Flickr photos for prompt facial recognition and friend identification) to identify a person’s face and show their online personal and contact info.

5.SREngine for iPhone
SREngine is similar to TAT, but it recognizes the objects especially  environmental scenes and architecture. It assists you to identify things like rocks, houses, monuments and even bugs. That’s incredible!!!

6. Wikitude AR Travel Guide
Don’t think of hiring a travel guide when you have Wikitude AR Travel Guide app in your phone. Because it will bring you up the Wikipedia information of the places around you. Type it in that built-in browser and it will guide you the specific location you are looking for. Time to try!

Your opinion upon this post is welcomed.
